How to convert a YouTube video to MP3 (free, no software)

Sometimes a video is really just an excuse to listen to the audio — a talk, a live session, a track that never got a proper release. Converting it to MP3 means you can play it back with any music app, put it on a phone with no data connection, or drop it into a playlist. Here's the whole process from link to finished file.

Step 1: Copy the video link

On YouTube, tap Share under the video and choose Copy link, or just copy the address bar URL if you're on desktop. Either format works — full youtube.com links and shortened youtu.be links are both accepted.
